Willem Smith-Clark is a woodworker and designer based in California and New York City. As a graduate of Cooper Union's School of Architecture, Smith-Clark prioritizes craft and beauty in his woodwork. All of his pieces are diligently and expertly handmade, balancing his contemporary design education with his expertise as a craftsman. All Smith-Clark pieces are made using ethically-sourced solid wood.
As a student of traditional woodworking techniques and as an amateur naturalist, Smith-Clark's work bridges the gap between thoughtful design, and the restless nature of solid wood. His pieces are meant to not only be beautiful and functional, but to work with natural materials, rather than against them. Some of the hallmarks of Smith-Clark's woodwork includes expressive joinery and the use of woodgrain as a compositional element of his work, creating pieces that become focal points of a home.
Smith-Clark is available to create bespoke furniture, objects and fine carpentry, along with his design work. If you would like to commission a piece, have questions, or are seeking design services, visit the Contact page to connect.
